university of arizona UNO Silver & Blue Essay Solicit Spring 2017

The University of New Orleans is seeking essay submissions for a new one-page feature in Silver & Blue, the (newly renamed) UNO magazine that goes out to alumni, staff, students and friends twice a year. The vision is somewhat broad but the goal is simple: To publish a well-written, well-crafted reflection by a member of our faculty, staff or student body -- a short piece that comes to about 500-700 words. It could be about anything, really, related to your work and life as part of this University: teaching, learning, discovering, researching. It could also be about home, about family, about New Orleans, about Mardi Gras or Ramadan. It could be about change or resistance to change, age or youth, feminism or chauvinism, creativity or futility. Truly, it could be about anything. Our main hope is to give readers a chance to hear directly from one of our own in a way that showcases the diversity of thought and experience at UNO, while also treating them to a delightful piece of prose.
